Fort De Soto

Our story

About this guide

The family behind Fort De Soto Camp Guide on the beach
Written by a family that wants to do life together — working and playing at the same time. Always on the beach, always glamping.

We are campers who got tired of booking blind. The county site only tells you whether a site is available — not what you are actually reserving. We set out to fix that.

Why we built it

Every camper knows the frustration: you reserve a site online, drive hours, and discover the pad is too short, the shade is gone, or your view is a bathroom wall. Fort De Soto has 236 campsites spread across three areas with very different personalities — and the official listing gives almost no detail about individual sites.

We camped every area, photographed every site, measured pads, noted shade patterns, recorded water views, and mapped it all into one interactive guide. Now you can filter by the things that actually matter to you.

What we track

  • Exact pad size and surface type
  • Water view vs. inland positioning
  • Pet rules by area
  • Shade coverage and tree canopy
  • Proximity to restrooms, water spigots, and bath houses
  • Max RV length and hookup type

The glamping side

We also run a concierge glamping setup service. You book the site through Pinellas County, tell us which one, and we handle the rest — canvas safari tent, real bed, linens, string lights, camp kitchen, the works. When your trip ends, we break it all down and haul it away. Show up with a swimsuit and a cooler.

This is separate from the guide, but it grew out of the same frustration: we wanted Fort De Soto to feel effortless.

Independence & accuracy

This site is not affiliated with Pinellas County or Fort De Soto Park. We visit regularly, update details when we learn of changes, and verify what we can — but park conditions shift with weather, maintenance, and policy. Always double-check official sources before making reservations.

If you spot something wrong or missing, reach out. We want this to be the most accurate unofficial resource on the internet.
